Nominations are now open for the SA Science Excellence Awards.
The South Australian Science Excellence Awards recognise and reward outstanding scientific endeavour in the state, including its application in industry and the advancement of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.
Prizes are awarded in various categories, including
- SA Scientist of the Year
- PhD Research Excellence Award
- STEM Professional Award
- STEM Educator of the Year – School Teaching
- STEM Educator of the Year – Tertiary Teaching
- Excellence in Research Collaboration
Last year, Professor James Paton from the University of Adelaide won the SA Scientist of the Year Award. Professor Paton was recognised for his research into disease caused by streptococcus pneumoniae, which kills 1-2 million people a year.
