A short introduction to the night sky and observational astronomy for casual skywatchers and backyard astronomers. Learn about the different types of celestial objects and phenomena in the night sky, and how to find and observe them using just your eyes, binoculars or a telescope. This presentation is suitable for people of all ages.

Presenter Bio:

Kym enjoys a life-long passion for astronomy & space with several interests including astronomy outreach, celestial cartography, imaging supernovae and most recently electronically assisted astronomy. Since January 2000 Kym has published The Evening Sky Map each month at Skymaps.com to help tens of thousands of sky watchers worldwide discover the wonders of the Universe. He is also the creator of the star maps published in The Advertiser each month. Kym is a Past President of the Astronomical Society of South Australia, and prior to retirement was employed for 30 years as a rocket propulsion scientist leading a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians.
