Join the National Quantum & Dark Matter Road Trip in Adelaide to unravel the mysteries of dark matter with Dr Dipan Sengupta.
Dark matter is fundamental to our understanding of the structure of the Universe as we know and observe it. From the cosmic background to the formation of galaxies and stars, the evolution of the Universe has been shaped by dark matter. Yet it remains mysterious and a puzzle to us. Deciphering its true nature remains one of the biggest challenges to humankind in the quest to understand our place in the Universe. I will discuss various fascinating aspects in the hunt for discovering the true nature of dark matter. I will also talk about Australia’s role in this endeavour through building new detectors as well as its participation in global cutting-edge research in the field.
Dr Dipan Sengupta is a research associate at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics at The University of Adelaide. He completed his PhD at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in 2014 and has held positions at the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), France, Michigan State University, USA and the University of California, San Diego, USA. His expertise is in theoretical particle physics and cosmology, and he likes to ponder the deepest questions regarding our place and existence in the Universe and the secrets it holds.
This is a FREE event, but registration is required.
